I made this bird house for our upcoming RMC-SCBWI Fall Letters and Lines Conference. I chose The Little Red Hen because it was my favorite book as a little kid. (Hello independent personality!)

  

   
    
 This is a premade wood house from Michael’s and a cut up Little Golden Book. I’m not a big fan of cutting up books, but this is for a good cause and I found a new copy for cheap at Barnes and Noble. I also saved pages that weren’t cut to frame and hang in my office. I glued on the pieces with Aleens craft glue then sealed the whole thing with Mod Podge. The words are a combination of wood burning and Sharpie. I’m considering adding a light inside. I’ll update the post if that happens.
