Imagine having your books and characters turned into a literacy festival for kids. In the honor of a lifetime, that just happened to me. Here are just a few photos from the event. Look at the amazing work of the Yorkville District early educators, librarians, and PARAS:

The kids are the big WHY, and inspiring them to fall in love with books, to become leaders and thinkers, to be kind, and to tell their own stories, is worth all the rejection and struggle, hardship and persistence. A HUGE thank you to the tireless Yorkville, Illinois board members, leadership, librarians, teachers, paras, and educator teams, who work overtime and then some to provide incredible experiences and opportunities for their students. Special shoutout to Steph McHugh, the most passionate literacy advocate and book hype-monster I know. I wish every school district could have this. I love you all so much!
